SKA Workshop - Cosmology, Large Structures and Galaxies (Salle du Conseil, Observatoire de Paris, November 23 & 24, 2023). Registrations are closed.

The SKA radio observatory opens up new perspectives for cosmology, the study of the large scale structures and galaxy formation, such as:

  • cosmic dawn and reionization in 21cm tomography,
  • radio signal correlations with galaxy surveys, anisotropies in the cosmic or infrared diffuse background, narrow-band surveys (CII),
  • cosmic magnetism,
  • the properties of the intergalactic medium, for example through the study of 21cm absorbers,
  • galaxy surveys in the radio continuum
  • large-scale HI galaxy velocity fields for reconstruction of the underlying matter distribution,
  • large-scale 21cm narrow-band surveys at z~2-3.

In addition, these studies will require the joint use of future SKA data with those to be provided by other large instruments or surveys: EUCLID, LSST, CONCERTO, Planck, 4MOST, JWST, ELT... They also require the implementation of new methods, in numerical simulation, in modeling, in data science techniques or in the processing of large catalogs.

Over two days (November 23 and 24, 2023) at Paris Observatory, we aim to offer the French community, and in particular our young colleagues, a meeting to showcase their latest work related to SKA. It will also be an opportunity for scientists in these fields to discuss and discover the synergies and opportunities offered by the future large instrument.
